Questions

Can I change the font in Discord?
Not for anyone else. Everyone sees your messages in Discord's own font. To make text look different, use Unicode characters like the ones above, or Discord's formatting codes.
Why can't I use these letters in my username?
Discord usernames only allow lowercase letters, numbers, underscores and periods. Your display name and server nicknames accept these characters.
Why do some letters show up as boxes?
A device with no font that has those characters shows empty boxes instead. Bold, italic and script are the safest; rarer styles are more likely to show as boxes on older phones and computers.
Are these real fonts?
No. They are Unicode characters, mostly from the math alphabets, that look like styled letters. Screen readers may read them letter by letter or skip them, so keep anything important in plain text.
